Leader Code
A Leader Code is the result of The 42 Test: one of eight codes, such as 42·07 The Quiet Architect. It comes from three axes, each scored from 14 questions: whether you solve problems or grow people, leave room or spell things out, and shield your team or stretch it. Every code has a strength and a trade-off.

In practice
A label is only useful if it names the trade-off too.
The moment you read your code, think “that’s my strength”, then read the line below it.
Leader Code
How is a Leader Code worked out?
Each of the 42 questions belongs to one of three axes, 14 per axis. About half of each axis’s questions point one way and half the other, so agreeing with everything doesn’t push you to one side. Your score on each axis is the average of its 14 answers. If it lands close to the middle, your result says “leaning”.
- Solve or Grow: do you fix it yourself, or grow people to fix it?
- Leave room or Spell it out: how explicit are you about expectations and hard truths?
- Shield or Stretch: do you protect the team’s focus, or push for more?
What are the eight codes?
42·01 The Safety Net, 42·02 The Sprinter, 42·03 The Anchor, 42·04 The Firestarter, 42·05 The Gardener, 42·06 The Explorer, 42·07 The Quiet Architect and 42·08 The Sparring Partner. Each one names a strength and the trade-off that comes with it. None of them is a better leader than another.
Is it final?
No. The codes and their descriptions are a draft, waiting for a qualified coach to review them. Your code is also a snapshot of how you answered on one day. Take The 42 Test again in a few months, or ask your team the same questions with Blind Spot when it opens.
